Enter the current rent and the increase to see the new rent, the increase amount and each roommate's new share. If your landlord quoted a new rent, you can find the percentage too.
Calculate the new rent
The starting values are an example; replace them with your own.
Find the percentage
How it works
New rent = Current rent × (1 + percentage ÷ 100). For example, $1,800 rent with a 10% increase becomes $1,980. To find the percentage from two amounts: (New rent − Current rent) ÷ Current rent × 100.
Check the local rules
Many places limit how much rent can rise and how it is notified. Check your lease and your local rules before agreeing to an increase. This calculator only does the arithmetic.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a rent increase?
Multiply the current rent by the percentage and divide by 100 to get the increase, then add it to the current rent. Shortcut: rent × (1 + percentage/100).
How do roommates split a rent increase?
If you split equally, divide the new rent by the number of people. If you split by room size, apply the old share percentages to the new rent (the rent split calculator does that).
How do I find the percentage from the old and new rent?
Subtract the old rent from the new rent, divide by the old rent and multiply by 100.
